Post Appartment recommendations?
on: December 25, 2011, 04:09

It looks as if I will be starting to work for a company near No 120 Zhongshan East Road.

Does anyone have any appartment recommendations convenient for this area? I have not been able to find any English language websites covering appartments in Shijiazhuang.

Also... is it possible to go jogging in Peoples Square, or is it closed to the public? Am I being crazy thinking that there may be somewhere I can jog?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can go jogging, no worries. Not many people do, but go for it. Peoples park and other places are open. There is a hiking group in the city, are you into hiking? They seem pretty serious and do some major hikes, but you might be interested.

I've thought about starting running again, but what holds me back is that there aren't really "places" to run. So I'd be running along the streets and canals (not so bad), etc. Lots of cement, but it works.

There aren't really any English websites about apartment rental here. You can do google translate for the Chinese ones though. Also once you arrive, you can look at Century 21 and other rental agencies. Because you'll want to have a look in the apartments and see what shape it's in, etc. We went around and looked at quite a few apartments before we choose one. We also looked at the web-sites, but in the end we went to Century 21 and had them take us around to look around.

It is good to know that People park is open. When I was in Shenzhen I found that quite a few people used to go jogging in the parks. Maybe it is more popular there. Thanks for the advice on apartments. I had a quick look on some Chinese estate agent web pages, but it is difficult to know if they are representative. Actually visiting the places as you said sounds like good advice.
